German Dance Bands

It may come as a surprise to learn that American tunes were very popular in Germany, performed by big bands that in some cases sounded remarkably similar to their American coiunterparts. These bands continued to enchant audiences during the 1930s and into the 1940s even though the Nazi government threatened to silence this form of music.
