This Is Glenn Miller 4

September 6, 2022 #2089

Though Miller was exempt from the draft because of his age, he applied for a commission in the Army and was assigned to organize and lead an orchestra that numbered more than 30 musicians. The orchestra, under the durection of Captain and, later, Major Miller, was stationed in England. When Paris was liberated, he set out on a flight to that city to set up concert arrangements, but the plane never arrived. It likely sank in the English Channel.
